this iron is not the greatest, but works well. i have dropped it repeatedly and it still holds up, very durable. it catches hair easily however so if youre trying to create curls, it will snag. my hair doesnt look silky afterwards especially my ends so i am upgrading to a chi. i do like that it has setting ocntrols, but i am expecting to find better somewhere. also i got mine at target for $35-45 dollars. its def. not worth 80+

Horrible

This flat iron is just horrible. I have purchased cheaper ones that work much better. I have curly, long hair and my daughter has shorter, straight hair. Neither one of us get the results we are used to. While I don't expect any flat iron to last long with frequent use I do expect them to do what they are manufactured for. Conair needs to get out of the flat iron business.

Not Bad for a Gift

This isn't a terrible flat iron. I have used a cheaper one - a Remington, a Chi, and this one. It falls some where between the Remington and Chi and closer to the Chi. I am African American and I have kinky new growth, it doesn't get that completely straight, but neither did the Chi really, but I also use it on the lowest setting. It does get VERY hot and frequent use esp on higher settings seems to cause some shedding. I got this flat iron as a gift, and it's pretty decent at least. It gives a nice bend to the ends too, very easy to use.

this iron was just okay. Granted this is my first iron, but I'd rather pay even more money for something a little better. I wasn't impressed for two reasons: 1) you have to be extra careful because the "stainless steel finish" is freakin hot to the touch" - ehm? hello? is that a design flaw? because you can basically only hold the handle or this rubbery tip above the finish. 2) i have medium length wavy hair and even in small sections - when i got to the ends/tips of my hair, there was always a painful pull like it was stuck. Also, my hair still had a frizzyness to it. It was straight but not salon straight if that makes sense.
