Chi Mini Ceramic Travel/Dual Voltage flat iron
Reviewed by: anon y mous from , Mon Oct 6 2008

i was very excited to hear that chi had made a dual voltage flat iron!!!! the perfect solution to my trips to europe. i bought it and used it a few times before returning it. although it is a tad awkward to hold (which you can adapt to) that is not the reason i returned it. i called farouk and they confirmed that the mini heats up to the same temperature as my regular chi. sounded to good to be true! unfortunately, it totally did NOT heat up like my regular chi. normally, it takes around 10 mins to do my hair..but with the mini, it took approx 25-30 and even then my hair was not as nice and skinny and flat and straight. (looked kinda frizzy actually). the mini might be fine if you have really easy hair with only a slight wave. my hair isnt too wavy, but it is stubborn and because the mini didnt heat up enough, it just didnt do the job. now im very very sad :( if only they'd have released the regular size in dual votage...sigh.

Chi Mini Ceramic Flat Iron
Reviewed by: Heather from TX, Mon Sep 1 2008

I've had the basic 1" Chi flat iron for years. It worked perfectly until I started carrying it around with me and the cord probably got messed up from being thrown around in my bag all the time. When it stopped turning on, I went to the store to buy a new one. The sales lady showed me a new item by Chi.. the "Chi Mini." The plates are the same size as the other basic 1" Chi. The only difference is the shorter handle. It was very appealing because it only cost about $70.. so I went for it. When I got home and tried it out it was horrible. The shorter handle made it difficult to hold onto. Also, the outside surrounding the plates is completely flat; not barreled at all. I'm pretty sure thats the reason my hair ended up completely flipped out at the bottoms. I even tried to turn the ends of my hair under with the chi, but it just made it flip out more. It's really difficult to access the hair close to the scalp. So, if you're going for a very straight look like I was, you're not going to get it. My advice is to stick with the product that you know and trust, and don't bother trying out the new Chi Mini.. even though it costs half as much.
