Not that good

I used to have a hot tools flat iron with the gold metallic plates which worked very good on my hair but only lasted like 6 or 8 months. Same thing happened to my friends who bought an exact same one. I saw this one and decided to buy it. As another reviewer notes above, there is a gap in the middle in between the two plates which does not hold the hair right therefore you have to put pressure over it with your fingers. On the outside of the plates this thing gets really hot, so you could burn yourself even when using it correctly. My hair is really long, thin but curly. It shouldn't be so hard to straighten my kind of hair yet this one still left it somewhat wavy; this tool won't give you the slick straight hair you're looking for.

I like it.

I bought one about a year ago, and although i dont like it as much as the one i had before (Hot Tools Ceramic 1 1/2 inch with gold plates and rounded edges) I like it a lot. It heats up fast and works well on my frizzy hair. My friend has it now and she has thick hair thats hard to curl or straighten, yet it straightens her hair great. Also, because I dye my hair it isnt in the greatest shape, yet the iron hasn't burned my hair.

This flat iron isn't bad for the price, but after awhile the ceramic coat starts to fade.. it also snaggs my hair a little
