The 1 1/2" is too wide for short hair. (despite what they will tell you.) It's hard to get close to the scalp to round out my hard (bob style.) I bought it at an Ulta store. My hair was very flyaway at the ends, which may have been due to the hair product I tried (Redken Smooth and Glide, which was supposed to get rid of flyaways.) The cord was so long that I kept stepping on it, which would pull down the iron. I was afraid I would drop it or burn myself because of that. I am considering the 1", only because all of the other reviews on other types are so bad.

I bought this flat iron to curl my hair with, and was very pleased with the results. I had tried to curl my hair with a curling iron before, and the curls would fall loose and straighten in a few hours, even with a ton of hairspray. The sedu kept my hair curled for TWO whole days, without any hairstyling products at all. It also straightens very well, but tends to leave my hair feeling dry. Although I am very happy with the performance of the iron, I am very disappointed with the product durability and lifespan. Mine stopped working on the 3rd day (and no, I did not drop/abuse/misuse it). I don't know if I just happened to receive a defective iron, or if it is because of poor manufacturing; but from other reviews I have read, many customers had also complained that their irons stopped working soon after they purchased it - some as soon as a month or two, others around 1-2 years.

I have been dreaming about my first Sedu ever since i tried it once in my friend's. It was awesome! Now, i got my own Sedu, and my hair is silky shinning everyday! Love it, love it, love it!

It works great on me. I can't leave home without using it, or my hair would look horrible again! Thanks God, I found this dream tool! Thank you SEDU!

I've had my sedu for almost a year and it still works like the day I bought it. All of these horrible reviews are probably from people who drop it a million times, of course it won't work! I have a lot of combination hair (frizzy, thick and thin) and I if mine happens to break tomorrow I will replace it with another sedu!
