Mine must be rare...

I read all the reviews and I guess my CHI must be a rarity. I bought mine about 5 years ago and it is still going strong in spite of being dropped a couple times, left on repeatedly, and used hundreds of times! I love it and I paid $150 for it. Well worth the money IMHO.

I received my CHI for Xmas in '06. The cord eventually gave out and it no longer heats anymore. I'm upset that it didn't last longer, but I have to keep telling myself I didn't treat it that well either. I must have left it on by mistake every other day and dropped it countless times. Other than the durability this iron works wonders. I have long, medium thick, curly hair and this CHI did such a good job on my hair everyone thinks I have naturally straight hair! I think I'll be purchasing another CHI, however maybe a different model. Hope this helps!

It works GREAT! I just wish it would last longer.

I got this Chi a little over a year ago. It has a 1 year warranty, but mine broke a month after the warranty was up. There must be a shortage because it only stays heated a few minutes at a time. I was disappointed at the length that it lasted-- BUT I would rather buy a straightner that works PERFECTLY for a year, than an Okay one that works for 3 years.
I ordered a Sedu because everyone left reviews about having it for 3 and 4 years with it still working. I got it yesterday and used it this morning... I'm not very happy with it.
It made my hair really staticy and the ends of my hair started flipping out before I even left the house. I did a 2nd round on my hair [which I don't like to do because it ends up frying it].. But by the time I got to work, the ends were wavy again.
Chi is by far the best one I have ever used...
I'm going to try a Hai, but if it's not any better.. I'll be ordering another Chi.
Nothing has stood up to it Yet...
And I'm giving up after the Hai.

i have really thick curly hair and it straightens it really well but doesnt stay straight throughout the day and also doesnt get hot enough. thats the only problem with it. overall its a good straightener, but could probly get a better one for less money.
